Mexican Insurance - Where’s the Best Place to Buy?

So why is Mexican Auto Insurance so vital for people traveling to Mexico? The problem is, even with valid U.S. or Canadian auto insurance, no matter how extensive your coverage is, it does not cover liability protection for the people and property outside your vehicle. The trouble is, even with legitimate U.S. or Canadian auto insurance, no matter how comprehensive your coverage is, it doesn’t cover financial obligation security for the people or property outside your motor vehicle. This explains why is it vital to purchase a Mexico Auto Insurance Policy from an officially licensed company with permission to conduct business in Mexico. Basic common sense would dictate you purchase Mexico Insurance prior to entering the country, because you will have a better understanding about what you are getting and just as importantly, you can see what you are NOT getting.

For example, there are insurers at the border who sell annual insurance policies. What a number of vendors don’t state is that some policies have contract wording that says whenever you are in Mexico for more than 90 days annually, the entire policy is nullified.

Despite the fact that Mexican car insurance can be secured by vendors near the border, buying your insurance online and ahead of time can avoid unnecessary complications. You should ask yourself;

If I drive up to a booth with a nice vehicle, they will know I’m a captive buyer. Will the salesman increase the cost or adjust the fee based on what they think I can afford to pay?

Did I buy the proper policy for my specific vehicle?

Understanding Mexico Auto Insurance is a-la-carte, what do I need?

Understanding Mexican Insurance is a-la-carte, what is covered?

What is the worst actual exposure in Mexico?

Does my policy cover the area I plan to travel in?

Am I getting value for my money, or am I being taken advantage of?

Why do some policies add taxes and high fees and others do not?

Purchasing Mexico RV Insurance Online is easily the fastest, most reliable, convenient option. WebSites with various policy choices and sites that allow comparing and customization of quotes are usually the safest, most affordable bet.

How much to tip in Medan

Before we get into tipping, you may want to know the value of your money in Medan Indonesia, no not just the exchange rates.

Minimum Wage in Medan

This is a guide to the value of money ( tipping ) in Medan. The standard minimum wage in Medan is around Rp980.000 a month which is around Rp38.000 (USD 4.00 ) a day. Some smaller shops and service industry even pays lower than minimum salary like Rp500.000 / month. So you can measure how much your tips are worth.

There are many times, tourists are the victims of extortion in Indonesia, hence, takes extra precaution. The amount of Rp 50.000 is a big sum as tips in Indonesia, hence do not fall into the trap.

Tipping at Restaurants & Hotels
Many restaurants and Hotels inn Medan have the standard 10% service charge plus tax directly charged to your bill. So technically, you are not required to give any extra.
Nevertheless, if you are feeling well served and generous, you may want to give extra tips to the waiters or waitresses.
There are no hard and fast rules on how much to tip in Medan compared to USA where 25% of your bill is expected.

For restaurants, the standard tipping is around Rp 5.000 to Rp 10.000. You may give more if you bring more guests. Rp20.000 should be a big tip.
Hotel porters and bellboys, probably the same aroung Rp5.000 to Rp10.000 depending on the amount of luggages you have for them to help you with.

Tour & Tour Guide
If you took a budget vacations package to Medan, you may be faced with Tour Guides: I would suggests Rp 50.000 each, for the driver and the guide ( for private tours ). This is based on the standard 3D2N tours. If you feel that you would like to show your appreciation, then really it’s up to each individual. If you are traveling on a group tour, then this should be optional.

Taxi Driver:
This is not expected. But sometimes due to the limited amount of change Indonesia such as the Rp100, Rp500 coins. You may just let them keep the change.

Airport:
Although it is clearly stated that the porter charges Rp 2.000 for each bag, many expect more of about Rp5.000 for each bag now (yes they will ask for more).
So be prepared. There was once, I was feeling generous and gave Rp20.000 for 3 bags and they still ask for more!
You will need the help of the porter if you have many luggages.

Remember, tipping in Medan North Sumatra should be based on your own appreciation of service you received and your own financial ability. The amount stated here is just a general guide.

Mexican Insurance, Is a Website the Best Deal?

We asked one client what he thought of buying Mexico Auto Insurance at one of the booths, gas stations, or roadside stands along the border.

This is what he said:

“I have vacationed in Mexico since the 70’s. Most vacationers plan their trip, drive to the border and then remember that they need to by car insurance …then they proceed to buy their policy at the closest roadside stand. This is similar to purchasing groceries at Shell or Seven 11… your alternatives are slim, and you do not have any way to figure out about the quality of the insurers that peddle at the border. It’s take it or leave it… the coverage is a la carte, who knows what you are really really getting, AND they somehow add extra FEES! It’s just smarter to buy it before you leave!”
San Diego, CA Resident

Also consider this: There is a LARGE difference between paper generated Mexico insurance policies and electronic Internet Mexico Insurance Policies.

Paper policies, are made in the age-old conventional manner, i.e. written by hand by brokers on the border and agents throughout Calif., TX, and AZ in localized insurance agencies and posted to Mexico.

Basically, an insurance salesman will manually fill out the paperwork, make a trip to the post office, and mail your policy to Mexico. To cut back expenses, it’s not unusual to see an agent delay posting policies until a dozen or so have been sold. This means that your insurance policy may be in line for a few days before it’s sent to Mexico.

Next, it can take up to 10 days for the batch of mail to get past customs to reach Mexico City, where most of the major insurers are located. Then it is processed by your insurer’s system database one at a time.

Internet driven auto insurance is a far better method of quickly notifying your insurer and distributing policies to you quickly by internet site, E-mail or by fax so YOU BENEFIT.

The real question is what happens if you have an accident and the insurance company doesn’t have physical evidence of your policy within their system? What happens if you cause an accident on a weekend or at night? Most insurance brokers work 5 days a week?

Since you need to stay at the accident scene and report all accidents while in Mexico, and most auto accidents are adjudicated within hours, having physical possession of your Mexico RV Insurance certificate, which needs to be verified by each insurer, is important.

Rocky Point Mexico Insurance Adventures

Rocky Point Mexico, known by the locals as Puerto Penasco, gets it’s reputation from big fish angling and beach entertainment along the gulf near Sonora, Mexico. Located a mere 60 miles from the Arizona border, Rocky Point is a popular destination for those wanting to get away for a few days of adventure in Mexico.

For those searching for comfort, luxury hotels and condos are plentiful, and traditional RV parks and motels are also readily available.

There are many popular things to do such as, Fishing, Ski Rentals, Boat Cruises every day, Snorkeling, Whale and Dolphin Watching Tours, Ultra-light Flights, beachcombing, ATV Rentals and Horseback rides on the beach. And don’t forget the fish tacos!

In the early 1800’s, then retired Lt. Robert Hale Hardy of the British Royal Navy was sailing along the coasts of Sonora and Baja California looking for pearls and precious minerals in the sailing ship La Bruja. He named the beach head Rocky Point and it was identified on official marine maps as such until General Lázaro Cárdenas, president of Mexico in the 1930’s changed it to Puerto Punta Peñasco (Port Rocky Point).

During the start of the 1920’s Americans journeyed from nearby AZ, New Mexico and California to discover the enormous flying fish abundant in the bay. For territorial fishermen Rocky Point offered safety from violent storms, thanks to the “the mound of the whale” a perfect point of refuge, and a beautiful harbor.

For vacationers traveling solely to Rocky Point (or Baja, California), a pass for your car is not needed. However, you still need to acquire a tourist card as well as Mexican Insurance Coverage.

US and Canadian car insurance is invalid in Mexico. . The legal philosophy and insurance coverage’s are quite different in Mexico in respect to automobile accidents and how they are resolved North of the Border. Comprehensive Mexico Auto Insurance is vital. You will be detained (jail) and your vehicle can be impounded until you pay damages deemed to have been caused by you to others. Charter Yacht Insurance

Renting a yacht for a few short hours is becoming quite a common occurrence and it is often from these short excursions that people think it is a good idea to rent for a greater period. Although this is great to do, there are a few factors that you will have to take into consideration; one of those factors is yacht insurance and when it comes to chartering a private yacht, many people who do not even realize that they need to have insurance for themselves.

Of course insurance is recommended for any pursuit just like this and whilst many people do not see the need when they are only using the yacht for a few hours, this is not the same as a week or two week vacation where travel insurance must be taken out for the party. Many people mistakenly believe they are fully protected and do not need travel insurance as they have already arranged insurance cover when they chartered the yacht.

Personal belongings and the renters require a separate travel insurance plan to cover themselves as the insurance already arranged was just to protect the craft and her crew members. In all probability, travel insurance will not be necessary but can you afford to take the risk of not arranging this important cover to protect yourself and your family.

There are many aspects to travel insurance including policies that will pay compensation should a trip be cut short or medical attention is required. The variety of cover is comprehensive some of which you will need, some you may not but there are certain factors that are important to include.

Accidental death is something that you will want as part of a travel insurance package because whilst most private yacht charters result in successful, safe trips, there is always a chance that an accident could occur. Accidents, although unlikely can be much more serious when at sea and delays can occur when medical assistance is required. Do not take it for granted that your travel insurance policy will include accident death cover and if it doesn’t, have it added.

As often as not, personal possessions are something that is often claimed for so you will need to make sure you travel insurance covers these to a high enough level. Although it is advised that you leave many of your valuables safe at home, you may want to bring some items with you and if that is the case, you will want to make sure that your travel insurance covers all baggage that gets lost, stolen, or damaged.

This is where reading the fine print matters as the last thing you want to happen is to put in a claim and have it rejected because you did not read the policy properly. The costs for travel insurance are not normally high so don’t skimp on this necessary ‘piece of mind’ cover when you charter your yacht.
